Friends Of Parkside (FOP) text message program. Last updated September 9, 2026.
What this program is
Friends Of Parkside (FOP) sends text messages to residents and supporters who ask to receive them. Messages cover Action Alerts and urgent housing matters at The Villages at Parkside, community meetings and events, FOP programs and services, calls to action and surveys, and requests for donations.
How to join
There are two ways. Text the word fopalert to 888-249-2415 from your phone, and you will get one message back confirming you are on the list. Or use the sign-up form on the FOP website, in which case we will text the number you entered and ask you to reply YES. A number added through the website is not signed up until someone replies YES from that phone.
Consent is never required
Agreeing to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving any FOP service, program, or assistance. You can take part in everything FOP does without signing up for texts.
Message frequency and cost
You will receive up to 15 text messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. FOP does not charge for these messages. Any charge comes from your own mobile carrier.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, OPT OUT and REVOKE also work, and so does any other clear request to stop. You may also call 313-822-0311 or email info@friendsofparkside.org. FOP honors every opt-out within 10 business days, and usually right away. Stopping one kind of message stops all FOP text messages.

Your information
FOP does not sell or share your mobile number, or your consent to receive text messages, with any third party for marketing purposes. See the FOP Privacy Policy at friendsofparkside.org/privacy-policy.
Delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed. If something is urgent, call FOP at 313-822-0311.
Changes to these terms
FOP may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
